Scott Gaines

Chief Product Officer & General Manager

Scott is a versatile leader with nearly 20 years of experience developing products, channels and teams at the intersection of healthcare and technology. As Cytel’s Chief Product Officer, he is responsible defining and driving product strategy. As General Manager of Software, Scott leads the team that manages Cytel’s software product portfolio, including its flagship East^® for clinical trial design and Solara^® for computationally enhanced decision support for clinical development.

Prior to joining Cytel he held leadership roles with Hyland and CoverMyMeds, two companies that led digital transformations in healthcare. As Senior Vice President and General Manager of CoverMyMeds’ provider unit, Scott helped build one of the largest networks in healthcare that grew to include over 70% of U.S. ambulatory care providers. After acquisition by McKesson, he served as Chief Operating Officer of CoverMyMeds, responsible for a 1,500-person, $500M business within McKesson’s medication access portfolio.

Scott began his career in healthcare as an early member of Hyland’s healthcare business. He built sales, product and implementation infrastructure that helped grow the busines from a small team to Hyland’s largest division. He most recently co-led the expansion of Hyland’s healthcare practice into international markets.

Scott was recognized in 2018 as a HIMSS (Health Information Management Systems Society) Fellow for his contributions to the global health information and technology community. He earned a B.Sc. in Finance from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
