East 3.1 on Office XP Error Messages

Problem: Some users, having Office XP installed in their computer, encounter error messages, similar to what are shown below, in East 3.1, when they invoke design wizard and click ‘finish’.

"This feature is not currently installed. Would you like to install it now?"

"An error occurred and this feature in no longer functioning properly. Would you like to repair this feature now?"

These error messages are actually innocuous ones, and if the user clicks on ‘No’, the program functions properly.

Fix: A patch has been prepared installing which will avoid the above innocuous error messages appearing on the screen.

Instructions for downloading and installing the patch:

1. Download the file ‘East31_Fix.zip’ to a temporary folder and unzip the file to extract the following two files:

East3.dll
Fix.bat

2. Close ‘East 3.1’ if it is running.
3. Copy ‘East3.dll’ and ‘Fix.bat’ from the temporary folder to the the folder where East 3.1 is installed, overwriting the already existing file ‘East3.dll’.
4. Double-click on ‘Fix.bat’ to execute it. This will install the new ‘East3.dll’ .
5. After the installation of this new file, East 3.1 will function properly without showing any innocuous error message.
